At home games for 2 players!
One of our favorite evening activities is playing games together! A large portion of my day is spent on the computer in virtual meetings, or planning and researching, or writing newsletters, etc. And for my hubby with nursing school, he has clinicals, labs, simulations, study groups, and more that are all online. Needless to say, we get a lot of screen time during the day! Because of this, I especially love having an evening of no screen time by sitting down and playing a game. There are a decent amount of games that you can play with just 2 players! There are also modifications to group games that you may not realize exist or that you can create. Another reason playing games at home is awesome is how budget friendly it is! Years ago we went on a date to Goodwill to see who could get the best deal on games, and to this day still play those! You can also borrow them from friends, wait for black Friday deals, and when libraries are open, look into getting a game on loan there! While I know Amazon is so easy to shop through, try to buy local when able! Small businesses are especially hit during the closures related to Covid-19, so even though it may take a while longer, it is worth it! Some stores can even buy it for you if it is not in stock. But where to start? Here are a few of our favorites:
- Code Names Original Version (Yes! There are special instructions on how to play 2 player).
- Code Names Harry Potter Version (Test your Occlumency skills!)
- Forbidden Desert (we got this in March, picture attached of our first successful win!)
- Scattergories (if you want to mix it up even more, do a quick internet search and you can find sheets that are more specific, like Disney themed!)
- Good ol' card games (Cabo, Speed, and Beandip are a few of our go-tos!)
- Heads Up (especially entertaining if you do the 'act it out' segment).
- Age of War (this is a new one to us! It's a dice and strategy game).
- Pick Up Sticks
- Bananagrams (I like setting a timer for this one!)
I hope this list helps you turn off the streaming service and spend some quality time with your loved ones!
